Monthly Recap: March

The first of april

Certainly brings together a month of trial, error, and success. March was all about gathering materials and tools to help create the products I intend to start with—pins, charms, stickers, tote bags, art prints, etc—and then actually making examples of said products. There is only so much information you can get from watching YouTube videos of other people making their own items, and not everything lines up exactly with what they show and tell. The whole process is a constant learning experience and adjusting the methods until things come together well enough to be satisfied; with room for ever-improvement, though, the practicing never really stops.

Networking, and networking, and—how do you inspire enough interest from strangers to want to work with you? Being an established name in the community is not enough, having examples of products is not enough, and maybe that’s just going to have to be okay. I am grateful for the artists that have said yes to taking a chance on me and agreeing to collaborate, because this whole business idea is based on that collaboration. Rejection in any form is difficult to accept and process, but there will always be people who have reasons for saying no, just as there are an equal amount of people who might be willing to say yes. I am so excited for this journey to start, and bonds to form, and for all the opportunities to grow. As collaborators become more finite and work begins with them, I will announce the artists and plans at that time.

Future ideas

I haven’t even really began the process of launching Stellar Phoenix yet and there are so many things I want to do with it. The discord server is being fleshed out, artists are being contacted for possible collaboration, products are being worked on, the purchase/shop layout is being developed; and still I want to implement so much more. Once the business is financially stable, I have goals of creating a donation fund for various causes. I want to create a patreon for additional support and monthly rewards. I want to post videos and interact with the community on a personal level and quit my corporate job so I can focus on my own artwork, and. Always and. Always more. One day, dreams will be real, and this is just the beginning.
